My original PST I got last week is nearly mint condition and I decided that after 30 years of looking that good it’d be a shame to mess it up.
I went looking for another PST and found a Big Letter PST, these models were manufactured in Japan for a short period of time and I suspect may be collectible one day soon.

Overall it’s in decent shape but clearly well loved. Unfortunately soon after taking this photo I discovered that the awl is actually missing about 1/3rd of it’s length. It must have snapped off at some point in its story.
While I plan to keep the tool, I think this damages its value and potential collectibility. I will have to keep looking for another big letter PST, but I will not feel bad using this copy for the rest of it’s lifespan and I’m happy to have a rare copy of a classic tool.
