Thickpockets

A few years ago I registered a domain, thickpockets.com. I wanted to write about personal finance. For some reason I just never got around to it. I let the registration expire. After a few months I wanted to get it back but lo and behold someone else had grabbed it and registered it for 2 full years. I waited patiently and when it became available again I re-grabbed it!

Now that I have it, I’ve invited a friend who blogs here to share it with me. I don’t expect the blog to blow up or even to generate a substantial amount of income. We might do a podcast, but we just aren’t sure yet. All of these things just feel like shouting into a void.

For the last 30 years or so people made easy money with investing, but as the internet has matured, it’s gotten harder to just throw money at the stock market and grow a portfolio. I think for today’s younger audiences, understanding how inflation makes us all poorer and what can be done about it is going to be really important.

I plan to write about inflation protection, bitcoin, and the mechanics of the world’s financial systems, including the neat trick Uncle Sam does to finance the Government through the exploitation of the Social Security system.

In the meantime, I’ll continue posting life updates here at Pancake Club including my thoughts on social media addiction, privacy, individual rights, and random pictures of bottom of the barrel quartz watches.
