Proof of (Lethal) Concept(s)

Reverse engineering a competitor’s geometry – back working on the Lethal Concepts / Streetfighter project. I’m planning to manufacture fabric grip wraps for the ccw market. Gun grips are often very rough plastic that hurts users who wear them all day. The idea of a fabric grip wrap is it protects the skin from abrasion while still providing a grippy surface when drawing and shooting.

I’m going to target the top 10 ccw pistols on the market – to do that I need to buy the patterns and reverse engineer them, then I will need to buy the blue gun for each one to test fit. A blue gun is an exact replica of the firearm’s dimensions in blue plastic. They’re used by holster manufacturers and for training.

I spent the last 4 hours working on this. The process is scan the grip, trace the jpg to an svg – export the svg to cricut studio and cut it out.

The entire process was full of difficulties but I think I have it down so far. I am cutting out of cheap card stock to verify the proof of concept before going through the expense and labor of bonding fabric to adhesive.

This is the first phase. I have another idea entirely about holsters that I can’t wait to work on.
