Why Our Culture Is So Broken

Written in

by

  1. Cities destroyed community
  2. The Industrial Revolution destroyed the family unit
  3. Mandatory schooling institutionalized us as children and made the state our parental figures
  4. A century and a half of successive wars created generations of broken men
  5. Free love, birth control, and on demand abortion broke generations of women, cheapened sex to a transactional pleasure that could be bought for a date with no commitment.
  6. Strong social programs gave men an easy way out of fatherhood.
  7. Unbearable economic pressure created a caste system that most men can never climb out of, life feels meaningless, and the pursuit of pleasure over responsibility leads to toxic masculinity
  8. Feminism as a response to oppressive male culture emphasizes the schism between men and women, ensuring that there is awareness of an unequal experience that strains marriages
  9. Everything has become commoditized and disposable, from homes built out styrofoam to relationships that can be replaced with a swipe on an app.
  10. Overregulation, subscription models, and taxation have eroded ownership in everything from real estate, business and even in physical media ensuring that nothing really belongs to us.
  11. The growth of persistent surveillance has made all of us feel watched constantly and is altering behavior, eroding our sense of safety and privacy.
