When I first bought my home, I was 23 years old and had never built anything in my life. Owning a home does require repairs and I’m the type of guy that would rather buy some tools and learn how to do it.

To build this fence we relied on Youtube and our Dads to show us some of their tricks. It took us about 8 full days to stain the wood, tear down the old fence, remove quite a bit of overgrown bamboo, set the posts, and install the new fence.

Overall it set us back about $2400 and I believe I saved somewhere around $5000 doing it myself. I also had noticed that my fence-line was not accurate and about 15 inches of my yard had been taken over by my neighbor. I corrected the issue and reclaimed about 60 square feet of yard. Real estate in my area is about $300-$350 per squre foot, so while it ultimately doesn’t change my property value I am now enjoying about $18,000 worth of extra backyard space.
