This movie was great. It stars iconic pinup Betty Grable as Freddie, a sweet bar maid with a real bad temper. When she gets herself into trouble in Bashful Bend she flees town for Snake City with her best friend Conchita, where she quickly falls for the rich owner of a gold mine. Trouble soon follows when her beau Blackie shows up in town looking for her and maybe trying to collect the bounty on her head.

The movie is hilarious. Falls apart about halfway into complete and utter chaos, then sort of comes back together again at the end. The movie seems to have been made in a rush, and still manages to get laughs, but it was Betty Grable’s first film to lose money.

The movie co-stars Cesar Romero and Olga San Juan as Blackie and Conchita.

Olga is adorable and steals the show. She could have easily been the star of the movie. She has some strong Anna De Armas vibes, and impeccable comedic timing.

Apparently, Betty Grable was famous for her legs. She once said, “I became a star for two reasons and I’m standing on them.” And she really shows them off the entire movie.

The movie is pretty clean as most movies from the era are, and I highly recommend tracking a copy down. It’s available on the high seas or if you happen to be a landlubber, streaming for rental on apple tv or to purchase everyy’ar 🏴‍☠️.
