I set my withholding slightly lower and have to pay every year. This year I took that excess money and put it into the S&P 500. When it came time to pay my taxes, I didn’t sell a damn thing, I pulled a margin loan for $3,500 and paid my taxes. I still own the etf, still collect dividends, still benefit from price appreciation. Within 2 weeks the market rallied, and my portfolio has already recovered $800 dollars.
TLDR: I financed buying voo with an interest free loan from Uncle Sam, and then pulled a margin loan on the assets I bought to pay Uncle Sam back.
There are risks, this is not financial advice.
